Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth are just one of those couples who are #relationshipgoals – married almost a decade, with three beautiful kids, and still looking all loved up like it’s day one of their romance. But, according to Elsa, life with the God Of Thunder isn’t always a fairy tale.

“It’s funny that people think of us as a perfect couple,” she shared in a recent interview with Body & Soul. “No way. It’s been ups and downs, and we still keep working at the relationship. I think a relationship is constant work. It’s not easy.”

The mom-of-three wields a secret weapon, though – a healthy dose of positivity.

“I always try to see the positives of things,” she revealed.

She and Chris are huge fitness buffs and she encourages family bonding by getting everyone involved in family activities – especially sports and other outdoor activities.

“[Chris and I] love to do sports, eat healthy and move our bodies,” she says. “We’ve got the kids into surfing. Any hobbies to get them outside, and not on social media and computers. My daughter has been horse riding with me since she was two-and-a-half.”

Elsa also opened up about putting her career on pause to become a full-time mom.

“Chris would come home and say, ‘How was your day?’ And I didn’t feel proud to say: ‘I’m just a mum,’” she shares. “But you should. Because it’s the hardest but greatest job in the world.”

But she admitted transitioning into motherhood took some adjustment.

“I had to slow down during my pregnancies and I couldn’t exercise as hard as I wanted,” she says. “I remember feeling a bit lost when I had India. I thought my life was going to be the same [when I had kids] and I would keep working. But I couldn’t.”

Elsa later opened up about her own childhood – and how that had impacted her parenting style.

“I really liked being with the kids,” she says. “I wanted to take them to school and pick them up every day. I just love that moment. I didn’t grow up with my parents [around] and I missed that so much, so I wanted to give that to my kids.”

Chris has previously opened up about how instrumental Elsa is in his career and their family.

“We got together, we fell in love, and then my career happened – and it was all-consuming,” Chris previously told Entertainment Tonight. “Once I sort of felt like, ‘Oh, okay, I might work again,’ I started to relax a bit and started to relax a bit. And then suddenly, I go, ‘Geez, look [at] what’s more important about life, which is my wife and my kids – and my wife, in particular, who sacrificed everything to kinda let me chase this crazy dream.”

Aww…talk about supportive!

Well, it sure looks like, despite their ups and downs, Elsa and Chris are totally relationship goals.
