Elton John and Britney Spears are receiving a lot of love from fans!
The powerhouse duo’s collaboration, “Hold Me Closer”, has been selected favorite song of the year — and now Sir Elton is reacting to the joyful news!
He and Britney joined forces in August of last year for the track, which is a remix of his songs “Tiny Dancer” and “The One”. The two made history on the Billboard Hot 100 when their song debuted at the number 6 spot on the charts.
Billboard readers voted en masse months later to name the track as their favorite. “Hold Me Closer” received almost 45% of the votes!
Sir Elton has since taken to social media to express his reaction. He shared a photo of him and Britney from his Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in 2013 on Instagram, and wrote:
“An enormous thank you to [Billboard], it’s readers and all the fans of ‘Hold Me Closer’ who voted it their favorite song of 2022.
And thank you [Britney Spears] for your talent and collaboration in making this happen and the incredible [Watt, the song’s producer] who shares this success!
What an incredible way to kick off the year.”
Britney’s husband Sam Asghari took to the comments section to post two goat emojis, representing Greatest Of All Time.
