Eva Mendes is making a dazzling return to the spotlight after a decade-long hiatus from acting, and she’s doing it in style. The 50-year-old actress has stepped back into the public eye as the face of Stella McCartney’s latest fashion campaign, reminding everyone why she’s such an icon, both on and off the screen.
Mendes, who has largely kept a low profile since her last major role in The Place Beyond The Pines, appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday (September 17) to promote the new campaign. The “It’s About F–king Time” campaign by Stella McCartney aims to raise awareness and amplify the designer’s activism for environmental causes. The campaign not only highlights McCartney’s commitment to sustainability but also marks Mendes’ return to the fashion world in a stunning way.
The campaign is described as “amplifying Stella’s voice as an activist for Mother Earth” and calling on the brand’s global community to take action. Mendes looks radiant in the campaign imagery, effortlessly blending her star power with the eco-conscious message that Stella McCartney has championed throughout her career.
During her GMA interview, Mendes opened up about why she chose to step away from Hollywood at the height of her acting career, following her role in The Place Beyond The Pines, where she co-starred with her longtime partner, Ryan Gosling. Reflecting on the decision, she shared that it felt like the right time to step back after such a rewarding experience.
“I don’t know [when I’ll return],” Mendes admitted when asked about the possibility of acting again. “If there’s interesting roles. I left at a time where… it was ten years ago… I kind of felt like I did it, you know? I was like, ‘I just worked with Ryan Gosling, who is the best.’ It was such a high off my career to work with him and what we created together that I was like, ‘This is a good time to Seinfeld it and just walk out.’ So who knows?”
Her decision to put acting on pause after working with Gosling seemed to be about finding balance in her life. Since stepping away from Hollywood, Mendes has focused on raising their two children and building other aspects of her career, including her ventures into fashion and literature.
In addition to discussing her partnership with McCartney, Mendes also used her GMA appearance to promote her newly released children’s book, Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries. The book, which touches on themes of anxiety and family, adds a new chapter to Mendes’ creative journey. It’s clear that her time away from the acting world has been anything but idle, as she’s continued to explore other passions and projects that align with her values.
With her return to the public eye, Eva Mendes is proving that her star power is as bright as ever. Her collaboration with Stella McCartney and her new children’s book mark an exciting new phase in her career. Whether she chooses to return to acting or not, it’s clear that Mendes is following her own path and continuing to inspire her fans along the way.
