Finn Wolfhard is opening up about Noah Schnapp’s coming out as gay.

In a GQ interview, the 20-year-old Stranger Things star shared how he felt about his co-star publicly coming out recently. Finn and Noah, who play Mike Wheeler and Will Byers respectively, have been working together since the pilot episode of the smash Netflix series.

The conversation came as Finn discussed his co-stars and their familial bond. He said of their relationships with each other:

“Everyone’s on their own quests in real life. We’re not on everyday-text vibes in any way, and not because… it’s like… do you text your cousins every day? Probably not. They’re our family.

We’ll talk on each other’s birthdays. We’ll talk once in a while. But in the same way that family works, if I ever needed anything, they’re there.”

As for Noah publicly coming out, it was noted in the feature by the writer that Finn’s eyes “softened” when Noah’s name was mentioned. Finn had these heartfelt words to say:

“When I saw it, I just had a big smile on my face.

I was just really proud of him.”
