Fred Savage is no longer part of The Wonder Years reboot. The actor has been fired as executive producer and director of the show, which is a reboot of the ABC series of the same name that ran from 1988 to 1993.
Fred starred as the lovable Kevin Arnold in the original series.
A spokesperson for 20th Television said:
”Recently we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched. Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years.”
The nature of the allegations is unclear at this time. However, this is not the first instance that Fred has been accused of misconduct. In 2018, a former crew member on his 2015 show The Grinder sued him for assault, harassment, and battery. She also sued 20th Television for discrimination as well as failing to prevent harassment and discrimination, among other things.
Her lawsuit alleged that Fox was more concerned with protecting Fred than protecting the women and other female crew members on the show. Fred denied the claims.
Also that same year, The Wonder Years actress Alley Mills made a claim that the original series was cancelled after a “completely ridiculous sexual harassment suit” that was filed against Fred, who was at the time just 16, and Jason Harvey, who was 20 at the time. Alley said the case was settled out of court.
Fred joined the reboot and directed eight episodes, which included the pilot.
The Wonder Years reboot premiered on September 22. ABC has not yet announced if it would be returning for a second season.
