To quote Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox’s announcements on Instagram, “It’s happening…”

The gang is back! Friends fans will soon get to see Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Ross together once again!

On Friday (February 21), HBO Max has announced that the Friends reunion fans have been clamoring for over the years is officially a go – and that Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have all signed on.

HBO Max Chief Content Officer Kevin Reilly said in a statement, per TV Guide, “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library. I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”

OMG!

They’ll all be heading back to their OG soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank for an untitled unscripted special. No deets yet on what’s it’s going to be about, but Ben Winston will direct the special and will executive produce along with Friends executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane – but it’s going to drop, along with the rest of the series, on HBO Max’s streaming service launching this May.

So, there’s been talk of the Friend’s reunion happening as early as November 2019. Back in January, official word was still a big MAYBE on the show pushing through.

“There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t seem to quite get that interest aligned to push the button on it,” Kevin said at the time. “Today, unfortunately, it’s still a maybe.”

“It’s complicated. It’s very complicated,” Marta Kauffman told Entertainment Tonight a few days after Kevin’s update. “It’s everything. It’s a very complicated thing to do.”

Looks like it all worked out. Yay!
