Style-stars are opening their wardrobes filled with designer’s clothing to support important causes amid the coronavirus pandemic and social unrest following the death of George Floyd.
Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, Christy Turlington, and Helena Christensen are among the 23 fashion icons donating handpicked items from their closets to auction off and help raise money for a good cause.
The stylish pieces will be auctioned off at a virtual event called “The Way We Wore,” an initiative by British Vogue, who partnered with luxury resale store Hardly Ever Worn It. Funds rasied will benefit NHS Charities Together and the NAACP.
Lily contributed what she calls “the perfect LBD.”
Helena donated a vintage Christian Dior dress she once wore to an Oscars party: “History is in every thread, and it oozes an elegance and glamour that hardly exists anymore.”
Gigi shared a rare selfie with boyfriend Zayn Malik while sporting the ensemble she’s auctioning off – a Fenty top and skirt, and a Dior saddlebag.
Christy contributed a printed, billowy dressed made from repurposed material she wore to 2018 H&M Conscious Exclusive campaign.
British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful expressed how touched he was “to see how my own industry has been rallying during the pandemic.”
“Some of my favourite models from the @BritishVogue family have taken part in a special online auction to raise money for @NHSCharitiesTogether and @NAACP, by each selecting a look from their own wardrobe to auction off, and documenting themselves in the process,” he captioned a slideshow of the models’ stylish selfies.
“Their at-home photographs are so joyful, and their choices so personal, I hope you will all be encouraged to bid and raise funds for these worthy causes,” he added.
