Grimes has officially dropped out of her upcoming Pride performance — and she’s letting fans know exactly why.

The 37-year-old artist, known for her eclectic sound and futuristic aesthetic, broke the news over Memorial Day weekend via Twitter/X. While she didn’t name the specific event she’s canceling, Grimes was set to perform at WorldPride in Washington, DC, scheduled for June 6–7.

“Hello friends, I am so so sorry and regretful to say I have to cancel my pride show in order to deal with family issues,” she shared in a heartfelt post.

She went on to acknowledge the disruption the cancellation might cause: “I want to say that I am aware the situation has been a great inconvenience to the fans for some time, and I am truly determined to make sure this is no longer the case very soon,” she continued. “I think the show is still going to be amazing and the lineup is great. I hope this is early enough and gives people enough time if they wish to change their plans. And I will make this up to you guys very soon. So much love always 💕 G”

When a fan asked for an update on her next album, she replied, “Yes, that’s why I’ve been offline 🙏🏻” — a silver lining for those anxiously awaiting new music.

Grimes has been open about her personal challenges lately. She recently disclosed that she’s been diagnosed with both ADHD and autism, and she’s been candid about navigating parenthood — particularly her discomfort with ex Elon Musk putting their four-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii, in the public eye.

While fans are certainly disappointed, many have responded with messages of support. And from the sounds of it, Grimes is already planning her comeback. One thing’s for sure: whenever she returns to the stage, the fans will be there waiting.
