Halsey, the powerhouse behind hits like “Without Me,” bravely shared a deeply personal journey with her fans on Tuesday, June 4th, leaving many in tears alongside her. Through a series of raw Instagram videos, the 29-year-old singer pulled back the curtain on a health battle she’d kept hidden, revealing, “Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive.” But she didn’t stop there, adding, “Short story long, I wrote an album. It begins with ‘The End,’ out now.”

Though Halsey didn’t delve into specifics about her diagnosis, she did make a poignant move by tagging organizations like the Lupus Research Alliance and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, hinting at the gravity of her health struggle.

In one particularly vulnerable clip, she confessed to feeling “like an old lady” during her ordeal, expressing her determination to reclaim her health by her 30th birthday. “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick,” she shared, rubbing her legs as if to physically shed the illness. “When I’m 30, I’m having a rebirth. I’m not going to be sick. I’m going to look super-hot and have lots of energy. I’m just going to get to redo my 20s and 30s.”

The singer offered glimpses into her journey, from the poignant moments of crying to the hopeful ones of smiling and even catching some sleep during her hospital stays. Amidst the emotional rollercoaster, Halsey shared a lighter moment, giving fans a peek into her creative process as she worked on her latest track, “The End,” a song she penned during the darkest season of her life. The full track is available for fans to listen to now, a testament to her resilience and artistry.

Among the flood of supportive messages, Halsey’s boyfriend, Avan Jogia, stood out as one of the first to offer his love and pride publicly, commenting, “I love you and am so proud of you 🖤.” Rita Ora also chimed in, sending her heartfelt wishes with a simple, “I hope you’re ok beautiful lady ❤️.”

Listening to “The End,” it’s evident that Halsey has faced more than her fair share of challenges in recent years. In 2018, she opened up about her battle with endometriosis, adding yet another layer to her already complex journey. Through poignant lyrics, she captures the essence of her struggle, singing, “Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain / And I don’t like to complain, but I’m saying sorry.”

In sharing her journey so openly, Halsey has not only allowed her fans to see a different side of her but has also sparked conversations about the importance of mental and physical health. With her music as her voice, she continues to inspire and uplift, proving that even in the darkest moments, there is hope.
