Kit Connor has put a label on his sexuality for the first time following months of criticism from online trolls.

The 18-year-old actor plays Nick Nelson in the Netflix series Heartstopper, which explores the romance blossoming between two high school boys.

When asked previously if he identifies with his character on the show, Kit has stated that he did not want to put a label on his sexuality.

In July of this year, he painted the rainbow flag on his arm and walked the London pride Parade along with his co-stars.

In September, he quit Twitter amid accusations from trolls of “queerbaiting.”

On Monday (October 31), Kit finally came out as bisexual. He did so in a very heartbreaking manner. He took to social media to share a message stating that he felt “forced” to come out, most likely because of the queerbaiting accusations from troll on social media.

He had not tweeted anything since September 12. He came back on the platform for his coming out statement. Read his short, heartbreaking message here:

“Back for a minute. I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself.

I think some of you missed the point of the show. Bye.”
