Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are facing a heartbreaking loss as their home was destroyed in the devastating wildfires currently sweeping across Los Angeles. The couple, best known for their time on The Hills, were forced to evacuate their Pacific Palisades residence as the flames engulfed the area.
The tragic news was confirmed by Spencer’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, on Tuesday, January 7. TMZ was the first to report that the couple and their two young sons—Gunner, 6, and Ryker, 13 months—managed to evacuate safely before the wildfire spread to their home. The Pratt family is now grappling with the aftermath of the disaster, with their lives upended by the devastating fires.
In an emotional post shared on Instagram, Stephanie expressed her shock and confusion, writing, “I don’t know if it’s a good thing I’m in London or I need to get back to LA. I can’t think straight. What do I do? Honestly looking for advice. I’m frozen in shock.” She also shared her concern for her nephews, adding, “How horrible for my sweet little nephews to watch their house disappear like this. They must be so scared and confused.”
Stephanie tried to find some silver lining, saying, “I guess the silver lining for me is if my house goes it’s only my stuff—not years of family memories like everyone else in the Palisades 🥺.” However, her heartache was clear as she continued, “Help me, what’s my next move.”
Further heartbreaking details came from Stephanie’s Instagram Story, where she shared, “I am beyond heartbroken for my brother, Heidi & the kids. And to all of our friends and neighbors who have lost their houses today. Just spoke to my dad – he tried to save my brother’s house but the wind is so strong there was nothing he could do.”
The wildfires have had a devastating impact on the area, with even the local fire station in the Pacific Palisades succumbing to the flames. “The Pacific Palisades is completely on fire,” Stephanie added, describing the chaos unfolding. “My parents evacuated safely and are watching the fire rage towards the house on security. I don’t even want to look at mine as my dad told me the market down the street from my house is on fire.”
Stephanie’s feelings of helplessness were further compounded by the knowledge that so many in their tight-knit community had lost everything. “We are such a tight community – I’m at a loss for words knowing so many friends have lost their homes today and so quickly. I hate that I’m so far away. Thinking about flying home so I can hug my family.”
Before evacuating, Spencer shared a video on his Instagram Story, showing an aircraft flying through the smoky skies, dropping water over the burning mountainside. The wildfires have been exacerbated by strong winds, prompting evacuation orders for residents in the foothills, including Spencer and Heidi. Several Hollywood events have also been canceled as a result of the raging fires.
