Billie Eilish’s new era is well underway – and she’s rocking a new ‘do to go with it.
The “Therefore I Am” singer shocked fans in March, when she revealed she’d gone and bleached her hair platinum blonde – a big change from her signature green-and-black locks of her When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go era.
But what prompted Billie to make such a big bold change? Apparently, it’s something she’s been thinking about for a while.
The 19-year-old GRAMMY winner gave the lowdown on her new look during a surprise guest appearance on Ellen Tuesday (May 11).
“I’ve been wanting it blonde for a while. I don’t know what came over me. I saw a fan edit when I had green hair. It was like me, with whatever hair color I had, and they just edited blonde hair on me and I was like, ‘Ah! So sick! I want it!’” Billie said.
“So I kind of thought of it as a dream. I didn’t think it was going to happen because my hair has been through so much. I thought I would burn it all off if I tried, but I did it!” she continued.
Billie has previously shared with fans that it took six whole weeks to complete the transformation – which is why she had to wear a wig at the 2021 GRAMMYs. And in case you were wondering when did the whole process start, according to Billie, her first appointment took place in January 16.
But her hair isn’t the only transformation she made.
The “My Future” singer was recently featured on the cover of Vogue’s June issue, where she ditched her signature baggy clothing for corsets and lacy lingerie in the pin-up inspired looks.
And she even ended up making Instagram history when she posted it online – it’s by far the fastest post of all time to hit over 1 million likes!
Billie was also recently announced as co-chair for the 2021 Met Gala, which is happening in September this year instead of its usual schedule of the first Monday of May. She will be co-chairing the event alongside Timothee Chalamet, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka, with Anna Wintour, Tom Ford and Adam Mosseri serving as honorary chairs. This year’s theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”
Her sophomore album, Happier Than Ever, will also be dropping on July 30.
