Tate McRae’s new album So Close to What just dropped, and it features a surprise guest—Sydney Sweeney. As it turns out, the collaboration came together thanks to Glen Powell.
The 21-year-old singer revealed the behind-the-scenes details during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The Euphoria actress lends her voice to the opening track, “Miss Possessive,” and Tate explained how their paths crossed.
“We both kind of knew each other,” Tate shared, explaining that they first met during separate guest spots on Jimmy Fallon’s show. “We kind of waved, said ‘Hi.’”
Then, a mutual connection came into play. Tate revealed that she does Pilates with Glen Powell, who starred opposite Sydney in Anyone But You. Through Glen, Tate was able to reach out to Sydney, who was quick to say yes.
“It’s really fun,” she said of working out with Glen. “He connected us. And then Sydney was such a legend. She just sent me like 10 versions of this little voice-memo thing. And it was, like, three days before the release, and she was the absolute best for doing it.”
The cameo adds an unexpected yet exciting twist to So Close to What, and now fans are wondering—could we see Tate and Sydney team up again in the future?
