Jaden Smith had no idea romance rumors have been swirling around him and Sofia Richie following their beach outing earlier this month – until it got brought up in a recent interview.
The 22-year-old music artist zoomed with Ryan Seacrest on his show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Friday (September 11), where the topic came up – and Jaden apparently had no clue that there was buzz about his love life.
“You know, I actually don’t look at the internet, so I didn’t see that,” he told the host.
ICYMI, on Labor Day weekend, Jaden and Sofia were snapped enjoying a beach day in Malibu, California with friends.
In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, the maybe-couple even had their swimsuits color-coordinated – Sofia rocked a bright pink floral bikini, and Jaden sported a pair of pink swimming trunks. The two looked pretty cozy frolicking around in the water hand in hand, and at one point, shared a hug on the beach – covered in sand and all. Plus, there were cocktails!
According to an E! News source, the two “spent all day and night” hanging out.
“They spent the afternoon playing on the beach together with friends. But Sofia and Jaden only had eyes for each other,” the source said. “They swam in the water together and wrapped their arms around each other. They held hands as they went in and out of the water and then they pulled each other in for a hug.”
Later that evening, they were also snapped having dinner with one of their couple friends.
So, what was that all about? According to Jaden, here’s what’s what:
“Me and Sophia have been friends for like 10 years. We’ve been going to the beach pretty consistently for 10 years too. But, yeah, we’re just homies and we love each other and it was fun.”
Last month, reports came out that Sofia and Scott Disick have called it quits on almost-three-year relationship.
As for Jaden and Sofia, these two actually have bit of history together – they used to be a thing back in their teens. But it looks like they’re just really friendly exes now.
