Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are gearing up to tie the knot – and they’ve got plans in place.

The country singer became Hoda Kotb’s surprise co-host on Wendesday’s (March 31) Today With Hoda & Jenna, joining the show remotely from Gwen’s home in Los Angeles.

Blake revealed that he and Gwen are eyeing to tie the knot “this summer,” but admits it’s still a wait-and-see situation amid the ongoing pandemic.

“With COVID-19, it looks like it may be OK, but I don’t know. So, that’s tentatively the plan. We’ll see,” he explained.

However, he shares that he really doesn’t want push it back to a later date. “I’m afraid if she and I wait until next November, then I’m right back into The Voice cycle again. And I really want to be able to have plenty of time before and after,” he said.

As for his wedding singers, Miley Cyrus and Adam Levine have both expressed interest in performing at their wedding. So, will they actually be booking either or both for their big day?

“You know, it’s starting to sound like a Coachella lineup here all of a sudden. I’ve got all these superstars saying they’re going to do it,” Blake joked. “I hope so, I don’t know. I’m telling you, I’m not just saying this because it’s the line, it’s — we really don’t know.”

“I’d love to be able to take everybody up on their offer and have this amazing concert wedding,” he added. “But we’re just waiting every day, just like everybody else, to see what our summer is going to look like and then go from there.”

As for his future plans with Gwen, he admits he’s actually thinking about stepping back from the limelight and settling into a simpler life.

“I hope that’s not too far down the road. Ten years sounds like way too long to me,” he said. “I’d like to see that sooner than later. I mean, we’ve both pretty much taken it to the limit as far as our careers go, and touring and now the television thing. It’s been fortunate to accomplish a lot of things, but hopefully at some point we’ll get a chance to live some life. And I think we’re both ready for that, honestly.”

“The older I get, the more I kind of feel like I’m starting to turn into a little bit of a hermit,” he continued. “You know, and just kind of passing on things.”

Gwen and Blake got engaged in October of 2020 after dating for five years. The loved-up couple shared the wonderful news on Instagram.

“Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!” Blake captioned a sweet photo of the two of them kissing, with Gwen showing off the new sparkler on her left hand.

Gwen shared the same photo, writing, “@blakeshelton yes please!”

In December, Gwen dished on how the proposal went down during an interview with Kelly Clarkson – they had taken a family trip to Oklahoma to check out the house she and Blake were building there and he totally surprised her by popping the question.

“I walked in and my son was sitting right by this fireplace and Blake basically was getting down on his knees to do a fire and he goes, ‘Hey, can you look in that cabinet over there and get me a fire starter?'” Gwen recalled. “So I open the cabinet and there was like a ring in a box and I was like, ‘Ah! What? Are you serious?'”

Gwen also shared how the proposal almost didn’t happen that way – she had no idea what Blake had planned and was already thinking twice about pushing through with the trip because of the ongoing pandemic.

“I had no idea, obviously,” Gwen told Kelly. “In fact, I was trying to get out of going back to Oklahoma because it was getting too complicated with COVID and the family.”

“I’m like, ‘I think we should just cancel the trip,'” the mom of three recalled. “It was like, one of those, and then we got it all together and we ended up going.”
