Kylie Jenner might be known for turning heads on the red carpet, but lately, she’s been making a statement by doing the exact opposite—going low-key in head-to-toe black.

The 27-year-old beauty mogul has been showing up in stunning black gowns while supporting her boyfriend, actor Timothée Chalamet, at major awards shows this year. From the 2024 Oscars to the recent David Di Donatello Awards in Rome, where the couple made their official red carpet debut, Kylie’s outfit choice has been consistent—and intentional.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Kylie opened up about why she keeps gravitating toward black dresses whenever she’s by Timothée’s side at high-profile events.

“I think it just like happened that way,” Kylie explained. “Even, recently I was like, ‘I can’t wear another black dress.’ And then of course the most perfect, gorgeous Schiaparelli black dress shows up.”

It’s not just about convenience or coincidence, though. Kylie went on to say that there’s actually a thoughtful reason behind her choice to stick with black—she wants the spotlight to stay on Timothée.

“Although these are the most beautiful, iconic gowns that I’ve been wearing, I think a black dress is also kind of like, not too attention grabbing in the best way,” she said. “You can never go wrong with a black dress.”

While Kylie and Timothée have kept their relationship relatively private, they’ve slowly become more comfortable appearing together in public.

This minimalist, supportive vibe might be a newer style chapter for Kylie, but it definitely suits her. After years of over-the-top Met Gala looks and headline-making fashion moments, her recent choices feel like a grown-up version of glam—intentional, refined, and meaningful.
