Hilaria Baldwin is speaking out—once more—about the scrutiny surrounding her Spanish accent.

At the premiere of TLC’s upcoming reality series The Baldwins, the 41-year-old fitness instructor defended herself against ongoing speculation that she has exaggerated her Spanish roots.

“I love English, I also love Spanish, and when I mix the two, it doesn’t make me inauthentic. It makes me normal,” she explained (per People). “I’d be lying if I said [the controversy] didn’t make me sad and it didn’t hurt and it didn’t put me in dark places.”

Hilaria, who was born in Boston as Hilary, has faced criticism since 2020 over inconsistencies in how she has described her background. Despite the backlash, she stands by her cultural ties, emphasizing the importance of bilingualism in her family.

“My nuclear family now lives over in Spain,” she shared. “I want to teach my kids pride in speaking more than one language.”

Hilaria and Alec Baldwin, 66, have been married since 2012 and share seven children. The couple’s new reality show, The Baldwins, premieres on February 23 on TLC.
