Hilarie Burton is speaking out against a disturbing issue that’s hit her family: an online user impersonating her 14-year-old son, Augustus “Gus.” The One Tree Hill alum, 42, took to Instagram on Friday (October 25) to address the situation publicly, sharing that a TikTok account had been set up under the name @AugustusDeanMorgan, falsely presenting itself as her son, whom she shares with husband Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
“Hi gang. Need a little help. I don’t have TikTok and neither does our son,” Hilarie wrote in her caption, revealing that the person behind the fake accounts has been repeatedly creating profiles across different platforms. “There’s this creep chick who is obsessed with him and keeps creating profiles on various platforms.”
Hilarie didn’t hold back in her message, clearly upset by the situation, and called on her fans to report the account. “I get it. He’s awesome. But she’s a freak for stealing the identity of a 14-year-old boy,” she continued. The actress also explained that this isn’t the first time she’s tried to handle the problem. “We’ve reached out to her parents. To her directly. We’ve contacted law enforcement. Because of certain actions she’s taken, she’s broken laws. So please do me a favor if you have that platform. Report her.”
The fake TikTok account was ultimately taken down after Hilarie’s post, but the problem didn’t end there. She shared that the person still had other social media accounts pretending to be Gus, including a YouTube account. Hilarie didn’t hesitate to make it clear she was serious about taking further action if needed.
“The TikTok account is taken down. But it linked to a YouTube account where she was also pretending to be Gus,” she updated. “Her name is clearly present on that YouTube account now. I see H*****. I called your campus police. I’ve reached out to your mother’s church. I’m not f–king around.”
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, 58, echoed his wife’s anger and frustration, jumping into the comments with a warning of his own. “F–kin people. get a life. your own preferably, but for certain, NOT our kids. if not… prepare for Morgan wrath, which i promise is not a joke,” he wrote, adding a side note about Gus’s actual tech choice: “Side note… ITS A COOL FLIP PHONE.”
The couple’s public response is a reminder of the lengths they’re willing to go to protect their son from online impersonation and unwanted attention. It’s also a stark message to anyone thinking of crossing those boundaries that they’ll be met with more than just a warning.
As social media impersonation becomes more common, celebrities like Burton and Morgan are speaking out to raise awareness about the importance of protecting not only themselves but also their family members from online harassment. This issue has sparked a conversation about internet safety, especially for minors, and the reality of dealing with unwanted digital attention.
