Britney Spears is the subject of yet another unauthorized documentary – BBC’s recently released The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship, which examines the popstar’s legal dramas surrounding controversial conservatorship as well as touches on her fandom and the #FreeBritney movement.
ICYMI, the New York Times also released a special doc Framing Britney Spears, which dropped in February. That makes it two documentaries for 2021 alone – and she wasn’t involved in both.
While Brit is “deeply flattered,” she’s also got some strong feelings about the docs highlighting “the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago.”
Posting a video of herself dancing in a studio, Britney wrote, “2021 is definitely way better than 2020 but I never knew it was gonna be like THIS 😳😳😳 !!!! So many documentaries about me this year with other people’s takes on my life. What can I say … I’m deeply flattered !!!!”
“These documentaries are so hypocritical … they criticize the media and then do the same thing 🤔🤔🤔?????” she continued. “Damn … I don’t know y’all but I’m thrilled to remind you all that although I’ve had some pretty tough times in my life … I’ve had waaaayyyy more amazing times in my life and unfortunately my friends … I think the world is more interested in the negative 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!!!”
“Why highlight the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago????” she wondered.
“On a lighter note … this is a video of me dancing 💃💃💃 !!!!” she added. “I have so many trips I’m looking forward to taking this summer and I can’t wait to dance in different studios.”
In March, Britney opened up about crying after seeing parts of the Framing Britney Spears.
“My life has always been very speculated…watched .. and judged really my whole life!!!” she wrote in part on Instagram. “I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people😳😳😳!!! It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 !!!! As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people!!!”
“I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in … I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes!!!!” she continued. “I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness ✨🙏🏼 ☀️!!!! Every day dancing brings me joy!!! I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness 💋💋💋!!!!”
In April, Britney thanked fans for the outpouring of love and support she’s received. “Happy to share especially with a world that is empathetic and concerned with my life … what can I say I’m FLATTERED 💁🏼♀️!!!” she captioned her post on Instagram. “Here’s to another beautiful summer of popsicles and sunbathing ☀️☀️☀️😜😜😜!!!”
