Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles-Lawson, says those rumors of her daughter’s alleged struggles with social anxiety are downright “comical.”
For those wondering where those rumors even began, here’s the backstory:
One of Bey and hubby Jay-Z’s go-to date nights is catching a sports game – and they’ve been spotted sitting courtside numerous times over the years. Eagle-eyed fans have noticed how Jay would usually rub Bey’s leg during those outings, and even dubbed it the “Jayoncé Leg Rub.”
There’s been a lot of speculations surrounding the PDA gesture – especially why Jay pretty much does it All. The. Time. One theory is that Bey is allegedly struggling with social anxiety and that the “Jayoncé Leg Rub” supposedly helps calm her down.
Over the weekend, Bey and Jay were once again snapped courtside watching the Brooklyn Nets take on the Milwaukee Bucks over at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Cams also caught the “Jayoncé Leg Rub” in action, which sent fans into a frenzy over speculations that Bey is once again struggling with anxiety.
Tina is weighing in on those rumors.
Sharing a collage of photos of the “Jayoncé Leg Rub” over the years on Instagram, Bey’s mom explains that the gesture is just Jay’s way of showing his affection for his wife.
“When you love someone and like them you just want to touch them ! Me and Richard are always touching even if it’s just our feet ! Yeah!! That’s what you do !❤️,” she wrote in the caption.
“For those of you who don’t understand , Try it sometimes it works !! Human Touch is how you stay connected!!❤️,” she continued.
“So comical people saying she has anxiety in public and that’s why he touches her !” Tina added. “Lord people !!!! Yal can turn something good and healthy into something That it’s not !!! Stop that!!!!! ❤️.”
“BTW if someone has anxiety then it is great for their partner to touch them to calm and reassure them,” she went on. “That’s a beautiful thing . It just happens to be not the case here. ❤️”
Bey and Jay have been married for over a decade and share three kids together, so whatever they’re doing seems to be totally working. And TBH, it’s pretty sweet how Jay-Z would publicly show his affection for Bey like that.
