J-Hope is reflecting on his time away from BTS and how military service gave him a fresh perspective on life and his career.

The 31-year-old rapper recently completed his mandatory military service in South Korea and is now preparing for his highly anticipated Hope on the Stage Tour. Speaking with Rolling Stone, J-Hope shared how stepping away from the group allowed him to grow both personally and artistically.

“I think the period of rest that naturally came with the situation actually became an opportunity for more exploration,” he explained. “I found a lot of new inspiration and got to spend much time thinking about the future. I also started making plans for what I want to do once I complete my military service.”

His time in the military wasn’t just about duty—it was a time of reflection.

“I still believe that experiences are invaluable. The thoughts I had during those times have become an inseparable part of me, nurturing and shaping who I am today,” he continued. “Ultimately, they have influenced the stories I tell, the music I aspire to create, my choreography, and the overall aspects of my work, deepening my understanding of my own thoughts.”

J-Hope finished his service in October, becoming the second BTS member to do so after Jin, who was discharged in June. The remaining members—V, Suga, RM, Jimin, and Jungkook—are all set to complete their service this year, paving the way for BTS to reunite as a group.

For now, fans can look forward to J-Hope’s return to the stage as he embarks on his solo tour, marking a new chapter in his career.
