Harry Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling recently revealed that she experienced “all symptoms” of COVID-19.

The symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, fatigue, a dry cough and difficulty breathing. However, she did not get herself tested, and reassures fans that she’s “fully recovered” since.

Although she didn’t explain why she opted not get tested, she shared a breathing technique with fans which she says helped her a lot.

“Please watch this doc from Queens Hospital explain how to relieve respiratory symptoms. For last 2 weeks I’ve had all symptoms of C19 (tho haven’t been tested) & did this on doc husband’s advice. I’m fully recovered & technique helped a lot,” she wrote alongside a video she shared on Twitter.

She also reassured fans that she’s “completely recovered” from her ordeal, writing, “Thank you for your kind and lovely messages! I really am completely recovered and wanted to share a technique that’s recommended by doctors, costs nothing, has no nasty side effects but could help you/your loved ones a lot, as it did me. Stay safe, everyone x”

In the video, that doctor teaches a breathing technique to help get more air into our lungs and explains how it helps.

“What I need you to understand is that once you have an active infection, you need to be getting a good amount of air into the bases of your lungs,” he says.

The breathing exercise is as follows: five deep breaths in, hold for five seconds. The sixth deep breath in is expelled via a loud cough (cover your mouth!). He then advises lying flat on your front for ten minutes — not on your back, explaining, “Because you’ve got to understand, that the majority of your lung is on you back, not on your front. So by lying on your back you are closing off more of the airways, the smaller airways. This is not good during a period of infection.”

Despite struggling with health issues, J.K. has also been keeping busy during quarantine.

Last week, she launched the Harry Potter At Home website, where fans and first time readers alike can find fun articles, quizzes, puzzles, nifty magical craft videos and “all the latest magical treats” to help pass the time during quarantine.
