According to Jacob Elordi, he can’t relate with Kissing Booth fans who’ve seen the movie multiple times already – because he hasn’t seen it.
In a recent interview, Jacob said he hasn’t seen the second installment of the popular film series.
“I haven’t seen it. You’ve seen more than I have. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I haven’t,” he told Variety.
When that bit came out, it seems his The Kissing Booth 2 co-star Joey King begged to differ, tweeting, “Jacob’s seen it. He’s capping.”
Then, soon after, she posted a GIF of Benedict Cumberbatch sipping tea. However, the tweets have since been deleted.
But, wait! What is the truth here, guys?
Jacob and Joey both star in the original movie and its sequel. They play onscreen love interests Noah and Elle – and also dated for a year and a half after filming the first Kissing Booth. The pair called it quits in 2018.
Some fans think that Jacob was unhappy returning to the Kissing Booth universe – but he says that’s not the case at all.
“I have a resting miserable face,” the actor explained to Access Hollywood. “It’s because I’m usually thinking a lot—an insane amount—about something ridiculous.”
He also says he was just embracing his character, Noah’s, attitude.
“[Noah’s] like a moody dude,” he said. “He’s not running around doing wild s–t all the time.”
And coming straight from shooting an entire season of his TV show Euphoria, then flying across the globe to film The Kissing Booth 2 (and 3!) in Africa didn’t exactly help either.
“I was so exhausted the entire shoot because I had just come off of essential eight months of filming then flew however many hours to Africa,” he said. “I never really woke up. I just got through it.”
Meanwhile, Joey has been sparking romance rumors with another Kissing Booth co-star – Taylor Zakhar Perez.
Fans noticed that Joey and Taylor were spending a lot of time together after filming and many have started wondering if their onscreen chemistry spilled over IRL.
When The Kissing Booth 2 hit no. 1 on Netflix, the two stars reunited in her Los Angeles home to celebrate the big news. Joey shared a photo of her and Taylor hugging on Instagram Story, assuring fans that they have both tested negative for COVID-19 so they could safely reunite.
Then, last weekend, the two went on a road trip together, along with Taylor’s sister, Maria, and a few friends. The two shared a bunch of similar photos from their “road trip,” which included their time swimming by a waterfall with their friends.
And, well, a lot of fans are now speculating that a little something something might be going on.
BUT, amid the romance rumors, Taylor is flat out saying that they are not dating.
“I know, we went away this weekend for some friends’ birthdays, and her birthday, and everyone kinda freaked about it. I will say that we are not dating,” Taylor told Access in a recent interview.
“We just became really close during filming, but then we became even closer after filming because we live really close to each other,” he added. “I think we’re like a three or four minute drive from each other. We’re kind of each other’s accountability partners during quarantine. So we got to hang out, make sure that we weren’t seeing anybody outside of the circle of people that we trusted.”
He also told Entertainment Tonight, “We just kind of hit it off. When we were in South Africa, we had dinner together. I cooked for her, she cooked for me. We just became kind of like, the best of friends.”
“I love her. I love her dearly. I’d do anything for her,” he continued, adding, “We’re not dating. I’ll end it with that.”
