James Corden is breaking his silence on the restaurant drama that he has found himself in.
The 44-year-old late night talk show host made headlines earlier this week when he was banned from the NYC restaurant Balthazar by owner Keith McNally. On Monday (October 17), Keith spoke out and said James is “the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 year ago.”
He also called James a “tiny Cretin of a man” and shared two incidents os James’ alleged ugly behavior.
Many hours later, Keith stated that James was unbanned after he called to apologize “profusely” for how he behaved.
Now, in a new interview published on Thursday (October 20), James broke his silence on the restaurant drama, declaring that he “did nothing wrong.”
While chatting with The New York Times to promote his upcoming Prime Video series titled Mammals, James staunchly said:
“I haven’t done anything wrong, on any level. So why would I ever cancel this [interview]?
I was there. I get it.”
He went on to say that he was very Zen regarding the matter:
“I feel so Zen about the whole thing. Because I think it’s so silly. I just think it’s beneath all of us. It’s beneath you. It’s certainly beneath your publication.”
During his interview with the Times, which took place at another NYC establishment, a customer in a nearby table sent back her eggs, to which James commented:
“Can you imagine now, if we just blasted her on Twitter? Would that be fair? This is my point. It’s insane.”
