TV Director Craig Duncan is not mincing words when it comes to James Corden.
Craig and James worked together in 2013 on the set of the comedy panel series A League Of Their Own. The series also starred Jame Redknapp, Andrew Flintoff, and Jack Whitehall.
In a YouTube video, Craig did not hold back on his criticism of the Late Late Show host. He said this of James:
“[He is] the most difficult and obnoxious presenter I’ve ever worked with.”
The director shared his experience working with James, saying:
“There was a joke, and I remember [Corden] just looked at it like, ‘That’s not funny, that’s not funny, ah sh-t, we have to rewrite this.’ I dunno, maybe he was having a bad day, I thought, and the writing had just not been up to scratch, but I definitely thought, ‘Man, you know, somebody wrote that, not nice to do that.’
But television isn’t for the faint-hearted and sometimes you have to take these knocks on the chin. I just kept thinking of the person who wrote the joke and that they’re doing the best with what they’ve been given, which was a garbage show, as far as I was concerned.”
Apparently, James was pressed for time as they also had to rework another shot at one point, recounting:
“We were working [out how to shoot the shot] when old bugger-lugs pipes up. [James said], ‘What the fuck is going on here? It’s obvious what you do. You put a camera there. You put a camera there. You put a camera there. You put a camera there It’s so obvious how you shoot it, you’re stupid.’ And I’m like, ‘He’s absolutely right, guys, let’s do that, that’s the best thing to do.’”
Craig also said that James showed up 45 minutes late to set.
