Rumors of Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles’ budding romance began swirling last week, after they were photographed holding hands. And, it turns out Olivia’s ex, Jason Sudeikis, was crushed to learn the news.
ICYMI, Olivia and Harry made headlines last week after they were spotted holding hands while attending Harry’s manager Jeffrey Azoff’s wedding over New Year’s weekend. And, according to sources, the two have apparently been dating for weeks. One source also tells Us Weekly that he referred to her as his girlfriend while officiating the wedding.
However, the actress’ ex-fiancé is allegedly heartbroken upon hearing the news.
“Olivia’s romance with Harry has been going on for a little while and has broken Jason’s heart,” a source tells E! News. “She was definitely trying to keep the romance with Harry under wraps and was very careful.”
Another source tells ET that Jason was holding on to hope that they “would eventually reconcile and get back together.”
“Olivia and Jason ended amicably and both wanted to remain close and stay friends for the sake of their kids and because they have mutual respect and love for one another,” ET’s source says. “He has been really hurt and somewhat jealous that Olivia has moved on with Harry.”
ICYMI, Olivia and ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis split became public in November 2020 after nine years together – they dated for two, and were engaged for seven.
“There was absolutely no drama or scandal, they just didn’t work as a couple anymore,” a source told ET at the time.
“They adore each other and have nothing but the utmost respect for one another,” the source added. “They will continue to be each other’s biggest supporters, especially when it comes to parenting their children and their careers. They see each other all the time still.”
But, more recently, conflicting reports are coming out pertaining to the split. One source alleges that Olivia and Harry’s romance may have led to the long-time couple’s split.
“Olivia and Jason were having issues, like any other couple, but Jason loves Olivia—he completely adores her, and that’s what makes this so sad. He’s always been committed to making their family work,” an insider tells Page Six. “Jason found out about Harry and pushed the conversation. Olivia then asked for a separation and news of the split was made public.”
However, a source tells ET that they had actually “split almost a year ago,” which puts no overlap in the actress’ past and present relationships.
Olivia and Harry have been working together on the upcoming thriller Don’t Worry Darling. Olivia has previously revealed to Vogue that she’s been a fan of Harry’s work even before he was cast in the film she’s both directing and starring – she wanted to cast Harry in it after seeing him in Dunkirk.
And sources claim that spending long hours together on set led to their romance.
“Harry and Olivia had chemistry almost instantaneously on-set,” a source tells Us Weekly. “It was only a matter of time before they got together.”
“Olivia and Harry are together for long days on-set and have gotten to know each other really well, so it’s all very organic,” another source tells Entertainment Tonight.
The source also adds that Olivia “wouldn’t let a romantic relationship get in the way of a professional one, so anything they’re doing is being done thoughtfully.
