According to sources, Jason Sudeikis is reportedly still hoping that he and ex-fiancée Olivia Wilde will still “repair their family.”
ICYMI, Olivia and Jason’s split became public in November 2020. The couple were together for nine years – they dated for two, and were engaged for seven – and share two children.
“There was absolutely no drama or scandal, they just didn’t work as a couple anymore,” a source told Entertainment Tonight at the time about why they split.
“They adore each other and have nothing but the utmost respect for one another,” the source added. “They will continue to be each other’s biggest supporters, especially when it comes to parenting their children and their careers. They see each other all the time still.”
Then, last week, Olivia and Harry Styles made headlines after they were spotted holding hands while attending Harry’s manager Jeffrey Azoff’s wedding over New Year’s weekend. And, according to sources, the two have apparently been dating for weeks. One source also tells Us Weekly that he referred to her as his girlfriend while officiating the wedding.
A source tells ET that Jason was holding on to hope that they “would eventually reconcile and get back together.”
“Olivia and Jason ended amicably and both wanted to remain close and stay friends for the sake of their kids and because they have mutual respect and love for one another,” ET’s source said. “He has been really hurt and somewhat jealous that Olivia has moved on with Harry.”
And another source told Us Weekly, “Jason’s had no option but to step back and let Olivia do her thing, but he [has his fingers crossed] that this is just a phase and that Olivia will snap out of it or that Harry will get bored and move on before too long.”
The source also adds that Jason is “desperate” to win Olivia back so that they can “repair their family.”
Conflicting reports have been coming out pertaining to the split. Some sources allege that Olivia and Harry’s romance may have led to the long-time couple’s split.
“Olivia and Jason were having issues, like any other couple, but Jason loves Olivia—he completely adores her, and that’s what makes this so sad. He’s always been committed to making their family work,” an insider tells Page Six. “Jason found out about Harry and pushed the conversation. Olivia then asked for a separation and news of the split was made public.”
And according to an Us Weekly source, “Olivia called off the engagement in early November but only after she already had gotten close to Harry.”
“Whether Harry knows it or not, he was a reason for the split and it blindsided Jason—he totally adores Olivia and is devastated. Family is his biggest priority,” the source added.
However, a source told ET that Olivia and Jason had actually “split almost a year ago,” and another source told People in November that “the split happened at the beginning of the year.”
And in case you’re wondering how the Olivia and Harry thing happened, the two have been working together on the upcoming thriller Don’t Worry Darling.
Olivia has previously revealed to Vogue that she’s been a fan of Harry’s work even before he was cast in the film she’s both directing and starring – she wanted to cast Harry in it after seeing him in Dunkirk.
Sources claim that spending long hours together on set led to their romance.
“Harry and Olivia had chemistry almost instantaneously on-set,” a source told Us Weekly. “It was only a matter of time before they got together.”
“Olivia and Harry are together for long days on-set and have gotten to know each other really well, so it’s all very organic,” another source tells Entertainment Tonight.
The source also adds that Olivia “wouldn’t let a romantic relationship get in the way of a professional one, so anything they’re doing is being done thoughtfully.
