JAY-Z is opening about his and Beyoncé’s parenting style when it comes to their three children – Blue Ivy, and twins Sir and Rumi.

Bey and Jay very rarely share stuff about their children, and fans understandably get uber excited when they do. And, in a rare interview, JAY-Z is getting candid about how they’re raising their kids.

“Feeling loved is the most important thing a child needs, you know?” the rapper told The Sunday Times. “Not ‘Here’s this business that I’m going to hand over to you, that I’m creating for you.’”

“What if my child doesn’t want to be in music or sports?” he continued. “I have no idea, right? But as long as your child feels supported, and feels loved, I think anything is possible.”

The superstar couple have spent much of the past year at home with the fam, and JAY-Z said one thing he’s learned is that family “is your foundation.”

As for how he sees his children’s futures, “It’s easy for us, as human beings, to want our children to do certain things, but we have no idea,” he said. “We’re just guides.”

The future could still be a long way off – Blue is only nine, while Sir and Rumi will be turning four this June. However, Blue has already shown impressive talents as an artist – she won a GRAMMY Award in March for her contribution to Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl.” Still, who knows if that’s what she wants to be doing career-wise?

Right now, JAY-Z says his goal is to “just make sure we provide a loving environment, be very attentive to who they want to be.”
