Alex Rodriguez has reportedly flown to the Dominican Republic to reunite with fiancée Jennifer Lopez, where she is currently filming her upcoming film Shotgun Wedding.
“Alex flew to the Dominican Republic yesterday,” an insider told People on Monday (March 15). “Jennifer was excited to see him in person. They are really trying to figure things out.”
A-Rod also shared a video of a breathtaking view of a beach resort, presumably in the Dominican Republic, on Instagram Stories Monday (March 15), which he captioned, “Happy Monday. New week. New day. Onward. Upward.” He also tagged J.Lo in the post, but partly concealed it by placing it on the side of the clip.
Their reunion comes after J-Rod became the subject of headlines over the weekend with reports that that engaged couple have split.
But they put those breakup rumors to rest with a joint statement on Sunday (March 14). “All the reports are inaccurate,” the statement read. “We are working through some things.”
J.Lo also appeared to shut down all that split talk with a montage video on TikTok, which she dubbed her “Sunday brunch playlist.”
She shared a series of screenshots from recent headlines, set to Saweetie’s song, “Pretty B–ch Freestyle,” including one that read: “Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez break up, call off two-year engagement.” The headlines come up right when Saweetie raps “I ain’t worried ’bout a blog or a b–ch,” then cuts to J.Lo saying, “You’re dumb.”
Additionally, when TMZ caught up with A-Rod in Miami on Sunday (March 14) and asked, “Are you single now?”, he replied, “I’m not, no.”
Sources also say that the two are still a couple.
“Like any relationship, they have ups and downs and are working through things,” a source tells Entertainment Tonight. “There is no third party involved. [Jennifer’s] currently working in the Dominican Republic and he is working in Miami.”
“They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up,” another insider tells People, adding, “She’s working in the Dominican Republic and he’s in Miami so it’s tough seeing each other especially with quarantining and COVID, but they want to try to stay together.”
Last month, speculations arose that A-rod had had an affair with Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy – but the couple seemed to shut down speculations by posting a clip of the two of them taking a joyride in A-Rod’s convertible when reports came out. The source also noted that the cheating rumors “had no bearing on the rough patch at all. ”
J.Lo has previously opened up about the two of them going to therapy during quarantine. “It has been actually really good,” she told Allure in an interview about quarantining with A-Rod. “We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship.”
