Jennifer Lopez is clearing the air about whether she drinks alcohol or otherwise.

The 53-year-old superstar launched her alcohol brand, Delola, this year. Immediately, it was met with criticism because she has been known to not imbibe.

Back in 2015, she said in an InStyle interview:

“I think [alcohol] ruins your skin. Of course, during celebratory toasts, everybody’s like, ‘You can’t toast with water!’ So I’ll toast with alcohol and just take a sip.”

Fans were therefore quick to criticize Jennifer for releasing an alcohol brand.

But now, she is setting the record straight. She posted a video on July 4 in which she stated:

“I know that a lot of people have been talking about like, ‘Oh she doesn’t even drink. What’s she doing with a cocktail line?’ And to tell you the truth, that was true for a long time. I didn’t drink. A few years back, as you will see from several photos of me out over the past 10 maybe 15 years, I have been having the occasional cocktail. I do enjoy the occasional cocktail.”

She went on to explain:

“I do drink responsibly. I don’t drink to get s—faced. I drink to be social and have a good time and just kind of relax and let loose a bit, but always responsibly,” she continued. “I have to tell you, I’ve tried a lot of different things, cocktails. I was into White Russians at one point, I was into rosé, but I never found anything that I really loved, like, ‘OK, that’s what I love, this is what I like to drink when I have a drink.’”

And she referred to her decision to create Delola:

“And so like anything else in my life, I made it myself. I created Delola and Delola is really about a healthier way, something that fit my lifestyle to drink the way that I would drink, the way Jennifer drinks.”

Jennifer added that Delola has “lower calories,” is “gluten-free” and has “natural flavors.” She said:

“Beautiful spritzers that I came up with, ready to be poured over ice, super easy, something that fits my lifestyle, not something that is gonna have to be belabored and I have to work on to get the right flavor and so that’s what I created.”

There ya go.
