Joe Alwyn stepped into the late-night spotlight for the very first time this week, making his debut appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers!
The 33-year-old actor was there to promote his latest film, The Brutalist, marking a significant moment in his career as it was his first-ever late-night talk show.
During the interview, Joe gave a quick breakdown of the film’s plot and added a playful jab about why he landed his role as Harry Lee Van Buren. “The story is about a Hungarian immigrant, who Adrien [Brody] plays, who flees to America after the war,” Joe explained. “And he’s taken in by this big American aristocratic family who commissioned him for a job to build a monument, and things go south. And I play Harry, who’s the son of this family.”
He went on to describe his character: “And he’s there to oversee parts of the commission, and he’s, yeah, he’s slimy and entitled and a bit of a menace and has some daddy issues, and, so, yeah, they came to me,” Joe quipped with a cheeky smile, making the audience laugh.
Joe also shared some fun tidbits about the film experience, including how The Brutalist features a built-in intermission—something not often seen in modern cinema. He even touched on the differences between watching movies in theaters in the U.S. versus the U.K., offering a lighthearted cultural comparison.
On the same day as his Late Night appearance, Joe was spotted heading into The Drew Barrymore Show, while his co-stars were attending the film’s London premiere.
With The Brutalist gaining buzz, it’s clear Joe’s promotional efforts are in full swing. Whether he’s cracking jokes on late-night TV or giving fans insight into his latest role, his charm and wit are undeniable.
