Joe Jonas is no stranger to wild fan encounters, but his latest story might just top the list of craziest moments. The 35-year-old musician, who’s been in the spotlight for nearly two decades, recently shared a jaw-dropping experience that left him stunned.
While promoting his latest single “Thick Of It All” with Alan Walker and Julia Michaels, Joe appeared on SiriusXM’s BPM and was asked about some of the most outrageous fan interactions he’s experienced. Though he’s had countless memorable encounters, there’s one that stands out for its sheer unpredictability.
“I mean, I think the craziest—I just was reminded recently—we were in Chile many years ago. I walked into my hotel room, and the curtain moved. I sat on the couch; it had been a long travel day,” Joe began, setting the scene. Initially, he didn’t think much of the movement. “I was like, ‘Huh, maybe it’s air conditioning,’” he added. But what happened next was something no one could have anticipated.
To his shock, a fan suddenly popped out from behind the curtain! “[She] ran over to me, and I was like, ‘Uh…’” Joe recalled, clearly still baffled by the memory. The situation could have quickly spiraled out of control, but luckily, Joe’s trusty security detail—Big Rob, who fans will remember from his time as the Jonas Brothers’ bodyguard—came to the rescue.
“And at the time it was Big Rob, who famously not only did great security, but also was on a song with us,” Joe explained, referencing the bodyguard’s feature on the Jonas Brothers’ hit “Burnin’ Up.” With Big Rob’s help, the fan was escorted out of the room, leaving Joe to process what had just happened. “I guess somebody, her mom, worked at the hotel or something,” Joe added, highlighting the lengths fans will go to for a chance to meet their idols.
Joe went on to say that while this was one of the more extreme examples, he’s had plenty of wild fan encounters over the years. “Just crazy stuff like that. But yeah, you know, there’s many, many of those stories,” he said with a laugh. Despite the occasional over-the-top interaction, Joe made it clear that he still has a deep appreciation for his fans. “But I love my fans,” he added, ensuring that his admirers know he cherishes their support, even when things get a little intense.
This latest fan story comes as Joe embarks on an exciting new chapter in his music career. In addition to “Thick Of It All,” the singer has also just released “Work It Out,” his first solo single in over a decade. The track is part of his upcoming solo album Music For People Who Believe In Love, which is set to drop in October. The new music marks a fresh direction for Joe, who has spent recent years focusing on the Jonas Brothers’ reunion and success, as well as his acting career.
