It’s been a while since we’ve seen Joe Jonas gracing our screens in a role. The new dad’s last acting gig had been way back 2016, when he guest-starred on the TV series Angie Tribeca. But 2021 will see Joe step in front of the camera once again with a new role – this time, on the big screen.
According to Deadline, the 31-year-old musician has been cast in the upcoming war film Devotion, where he’ll be starring alongside Thomas Sadowski, Glenn Powell, Christina Jackson and Jonathan Majors.
Per the outlet, Devotion will “chart the true story of U.S. Navy fighter pilots, Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner, two young men from different worlds. Initiated together into the VF-32 squadron, they are pushed to their limits flying a new design of fighter jet. But their friendship is tested when one of them is shot down behind enemy lines.”
Joe is taking on the role of fighter pilot Marty Goode and filming is set to start sometime next month in Georgia. The bug-budget film also marks his dramatic movie debut – he previously starred in musicals like Camp Rock and voiced animated features.
ICYMI, Joe’s brother Nick also starred in a war movie a couple of years back – Midway, which also stars Woody Harrelson, Luke Evans and Mandy Moore.
