John Legend couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who reached out and offered their support after he and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, suffered the devastating loss of their son Jack.
John and Chrissy, who are parents to four-year-old Luna and two-year-old Miles, revealed back in August, that they were expecting their third child. Chrissy has kept fans updated about her pregnancy journey on social media – from being put on bed rest to the constant bleeding which led to her hospitalization towards the end of September. Sadly, they lost their unborn baby boy, whom they’ve named Jack, due to pregnancy complications.
Chrissy took a break from social media for some time. Shortly after her return, she penned an emotional essay, where she details their heartbreaking experience of losing their baby in the miscarriage.
She’s since revealed that she had gotten a tattoo in honor of Jack, and shared a video of daughter Luna’s sweet tribute to her lost brother.
John, who dedicated his emotional performance of “Never Break” at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, has previously expressed his thanks for the outpouring of love and support they received on Twitter.
“Thank you to everyone who has been sending us prayers and well wishes, flowers, cards, words of comfort and empathy. We feel and appreciate your love and support more than you know,” he tweeted. “More than anything, we’ve heard so many stories about how so many other families have experienced this pain, often suffering in silence. It’s a club no one wants to be a part of, but it’s comforting to know we’re not alone.”
In a recent interview, John reiterated his gratitude for the “encouraging” love and support they have been getting.
“We’ve heard from so many people who have gone through it too and it’s been encouraging to be getting so much love and support from so many people who have experienced similar things,” John shared. “Chrissy sharing what she shared has also been helpful for other people who are going through it and may go through it in the future. So thank you.”
He also shared what he and Chrissy are doing to cope with their heartbreaking loss.
“Whenever we go through personal challenges — and I think challenges as a nation — I think we have to hold on to what makes us optimistic. What makes us hopeful, hold onto the things that bring us joy,” he explained. “And in my family, as we’ve gone through a tough year, we hold onto the fact that we have two beautiful kids that we love and are such a beautiful reflection of who we are and what we value.”
