Seems John Mulaney has a lot going on in his life.
After struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, the Saturday Night Live alum checked himself into rehab for 60 days in December 2020. On Monday (May 10), he marked his return to the stage doing a stand-up set at the City Winery in New York City. That same day, John and his wife Anna Marie Tendler also dropped a big announcement – they were going their separate ways after six years of marriage.
“I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage,” Anna said in a statement to Page Six on Monday (May 10). “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”
Days after news of their split dropped, multiple reports are coming out that John has struck up a new romance with actress Olivia Munn.
A source tells People that the two met at church and the whole thing is still new.
“This is very new, they’re taking it slowly. They met at church in Los Angeles,” the source told the outlet.
However, this doesn’t seem to be the first encounter between the comedian and the actress.
Back in 2015, Olivia dished that she’s a big fan of John’s and recounted about having met him at a wedding once.
“We were at a wedding together and I was like ‘Oh my gosh, do you and your fiancée want to go have dinner or something and go hang out?” the 40-year-old actress recalled to HuffPost Live at the time. “At first it was cool, and then I kept going up to him at the wedding like ‘So you having fun?'”
“I was just so obsessed with hanging out with and talking with him,” she shared.
She said she also emailed him but didn’t hear back. “I might’ve got the wrong email… That’s what I tell myself,” she jokingly added.
When reports that he went into rehab hit the headlines in December, Olivia tweeted a message of support for him.
“Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney. You got this,” she wrote.
With their rumored romance now in the headlines, one Twitter user responded to tweet, writing, “I guess it worked.”
And her tweet has since set a trend for fans tweeting their support for celebs in hopes that they will one day date them.
“Damn, I need to try this,” one fan subtweeted on Olivia’s thread, adding, “@KateUpton SO MUCH love and support. You got this❤️.”
Another fan also shared a similar message directed towards Harry Styles. “Sending SO MUCH love and support to Harry Styles. You got this.❤️ @Harry_Styles”
