John Mulaney and Olivia Munn are now proud parents of two!
The comedian and actress welcomed their second child, a daughter, via surrogate, and couldn’t be happier to share the news. Just over a year after their first child, Malcolm, was born in November 2021, the couple is celebrating another milestone with the arrival of their baby girl.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday (September 22), Olivia revealed that their daughter, born on September 14, has a beautiful and meaningful name—Méi June Mulaney. “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon🐉,” Olivia wrote, embracing the significance of her daughter’s arrival during this auspicious year in the Chinese zodiac.
In a heartfelt post, Olivia opened up about the emotional journey that led to their daughter’s birth. The actress, who has been open about her health struggles, including her breast cancer diagnosis and resulting surgeries, shared that her experience with surrogacy was deeply emotional. “I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true,” Olivia said.
The new mom also expressed her pride and love for her daughter, who she affectionately referred to as her “little plum” and “little dragon.” Olivia explained that the name Méi, pronounced “May,” means plum in Chinese, adding an extra layer of cultural significance and love to their daughter’s name. “My heart has exploded,” she continued. “Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese 梅💜.”
Olivia and John, who tied the knot earlier this summer, have been on a whirlwind journey of love, parenthood, and perseverance over the past few years. Months ago, Olivia shared the difficult news of her breast cancer diagnosis last year, which resulted in four surgeries, a double mastectomy, and medically induced menopause. Despite the challenges, the couple has remained strong and has now expanded their family in a beautiful way.
