What a way to celebrate the Jonas Brothers reuniting – a whole week of Nick, Joe and Kevin all together on The Late Late Show With James Corden!
So, off course, James being James, he did not let the week go by without getting the brothers to reveal a few secrets. Here’s what they revealed:
- They did a year of therapy together before reuniting.
“We’ve literally spent a year basically doing therapy – working through some things, figuring out what this next chapter would look like,” Nick revealed. “So we had to be really open and honest. And, you know, there are things in the past I think bothered us from time to time, even in our performances that we would do.”
- They finally REALLY talk about their purity rings.
“Purity rings were to wait for the right person, when the time was right,” Joe began. “And here’s the catch: When you’re like 12, and you do that because we grew up in a church, and our dad was a pastor and so like, this came natural for everyone we grew up with to go through this and get one and say, ‘I’m going to wait for the right person.’ Some people would say, ‘I’ll wait until marriage.’ When you’re about 15, 16, you’re starting to start dating, and you go, ‘Wait a minute. What did I say I was going to do? What did I say I was going to promise to do?’ Well, the funny thing is, we were never going to talk about it because we were like, you know, this is not really—this is not for the world. It’s own our thing.”
“But of course you have three young boys wearing rings on their fingers, so it’s like, ‘Are they married already? Like, what’s going on here?’” he continued. “And so we were in an interview one day, the guy asked about them. We said we don’t talk about them, and he said, ‘Well, I’m going to say you’re in a cult.’ And we’re like, ‘uhh, we should probably—‘ And we’re scared to death. This was like one of our first interviews.”
“So we’re like, fine, we’ll talk about it. We explained just like I did to you, he runs with it, the next thing you know, it’s the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings,” he shared, adding, “And that is what people ran with forever. That was the running joke. And we found the humor in it sometimes. But of course, we just kind of decided at one point, we’re like, ‘Look, this is not who we are. We don’t need to be wearing these anymore. This is annoying. People are making fun of it anyway. We can make fun of it ourselves.’”
- So, who took their purity ring off first?
It was Kevin!
- Who broke up the band?
“I broke the band up,” Nick admitted. “But I got them back together as well.”
- What the side effects of being in a band with your brothers are
According to Kevin, it’s “Staggering the years you go through puberty so someone can always hit the high notes.”
Nick the hilarious side effect it had on him: “Writing a song about how annoying your brothers are but having to save it for your solo album.”
- And the side effects of getting the band back together
Joe revealed, “Finally not having to bring your parents on tour… but missing them every night.”
- At what point did Nick decide he was “done” with all the wedding festivities?
“It was when I looked at the bill,” he hilariously replied.
