Destiny fulfilled: Joseph Quinn and Metallica have met and jammed out together!
Their meeting was something that everyone’s been clamoring for since Joseph’s character Eddie Munson rocked out to Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” in the epic season four finale. And finally, they made it happen at Lollapalooza in Chicago where the legendary heavy metal band was headlining.
Joseph and the band hung out backstage at the event, where Joseph introduced himself. James Hetfield told him:
“You’re taller than on the TV!”
Joseph asked them if they were fans of the show, to which James said that he has been watching since season 1 and that the Netflix mega hit has become a bonding experience with his sons.
The 29-year-old actor was then asked if he wanted to jam with the band, to which he of course said yes! Joseph warned then that he may be a little rusty, but he rocked out like a total pro after Lars Ulrich got the ball rolling with a countdown. Kirk Hammett declared to Joseph:
“You’r hired!”
Lars said after their jam sesh:
“I’d like to make an announcement. Metallica is now a five-piece, guys!”
But the most epic moment came when Robert Trujillo pulled out a custom B.C. Rich guitar just like the one Joseph played on the show, and gave it to Joseph. It was such an amazing moment that brought Joseph to his knees, bowing down to the guitar.
The band went on to “f**k it up” by signing the guitar. The gifts however did not end there — the band also told Joseph that he is welcome to their shows anytime, as they gave him an all-access pass!
Joseph later told Netflix’s Tudum:
“It was amazing! Opportunities to play ‘Master of Puppets’ with the most iconic metal band of all time don’t come around very often. A story for the grandkids.”
