Josh Duhamel is getting candid about the age difference in his marriage to Audra Mari—and the fact that it gave him pause early on.
The actor, 52, who married the former Miss World America (now 31) in 2022, admitted he initially held back from pursuing a romance because of the age gap.
During a recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Josh explained that things between them were strictly friendly for quite some time.
“It was truly platonic for years,” Josh said, recalling the early stages of their connection. “I’m not even going to go there,” he told himself when they first met.
Even when he invited Audra to a barbecue at his place, he said he wasn’t thinking romantically. “She’s more mature than I am,” Josh added. That’s when he began seeing her in a new light, and a relationship started to bloom.
Josh and Audra began dating in late 2018. After tying the knot in their home state of North Dakota, they welcomed their son, Shepherd, in January 2024. Josh is also a father to 11-year-old Axl, whom he shares with ex-wife Fergie.
Despite initial concerns, Josh says their relationship has worked beautifully. Audra’s maturity, he says, helped put things into perspective. And while 21 years might seem like a lot on paper, their connection tells a different story.
