Josh Duhamel announced at the start of the year that he and girlfriend Audra Mari were engaged — and now he’s giving us the deets on how his proposal went down!
In a new interview with US Weekly, the 49-yer-old actor revealed that he was not really all that prepared when he popped the big question. And he also revealed that he didn’t have a ring with him either.
He candidly shared:
“I just sort of decided last minute that was how I wanted to do it… [I] didn’t have anything planned.”
As for not having a ring when he proposed, he stated that he just knew that it was the day to do it:
“I was like, ‘OK, you gonna do this today. Today’s the day.’ And that’s just how it all kind of happened.”
Josh said that he was on vacation in the Florida Keys with Audra at the time and he wanted to ask her to marry him in a “beautiful way.” He decided to do it message-in-a-bottle style:
“I coordinated with [the concierge] there to make sure that bottle was floating up to shore as we were walking out there.”
He also shared that he knew very early on that he wanted to ask Audra to be his wife:
“Unfortunately, we were dating from the distance for a while, or it probably would’ve happened a lot earlier,” Josh shared.
We were right for each other, and we just made it work.”
