Joshua Jackson is looking back on one of the most iconic TV casts of the early 2000s—and giving fans a rare update on where things stand with his former Dawson’s Creek co-stars, including ex-girlfriend Katie Holmes.

During an appearance on the April 22 episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast Dinner’s on Me, Joshua opened up about the lasting friendships forged during the six-season run of the teen drama.

“Busy [Philipps] and Michelle [Williams] are very, very close. And Katie and I are very close,” Joshua said, putting to rest any lingering curiosity about where he stands with his ex.

Katie and Joshua famously dated during the show’s early seasons, between 1998 and 1999. Even after their romantic relationship ended, they continued working together until the show wrapped in 2003—and it seems that time built a lasting bond.

Joshua also reflected on how the cast recently came together to support their co-star James Van Der Beek, who revealed he’d been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.

“It’s not a daily call. Sometimes it’s not a weekly or monthly or even a half-yearly call,” Joshua said of their contact. “But when you’re together, A, there’s always that, like, I know you know.”

“And B, there is, you know, these moments, like, these major moments in life are, like, other than your husband, there’s probably no other people in your life that you are that forged to,” he continued. “Because you had to go through good and bad, and happy and f–k you, and don’t talk to me and I love you.”

So while they may not talk every day, the connection is still strong—and deeply rooted in shared experience.

Fans have long hoped for a Dawson’s Creek reunion, and it sounds like that might not be out of the question. Busy Philipps recently confirmed that the cast is “working hard” to make it happen.

Whether or not a reunion materializes, it’s clear the Dawson’s Creek family remains intact—and for fans, that nostalgic magic is very much alive.
