Things are getting tense between Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith over their daughter’s schooling.

On Friday (May 30), Jackson filed a motion for an emergency custody modification, claiming Turner-Smith switched their 5-year-old daughter Juno’s school without consulting him. The move appears to have crossed a boundary for the Doctor Odyssey star, who wants to keep their co-parenting on equal footing.

According to court docs obtained by People, Jackson is concerned that Turner-Smith doesn’t see the big deal in moving their daughter. “Jodie asserts it’s ‘no big deal to force Juno to start over with a new school,’” he claims in the documents. But for Jackson, it’s more than just a simple transfer — he worries Turner-Smith is “attempting to create a scenario where Juno travels with her rather than attending a traditional school.”

The actor is asking the court to step in and ensure that Juno stays enrolled in her current school through the next academic year. He also wants a formal agreement in place requiring joint consent from both parents before any future changes to Juno’s schooling can be made.

Jackson and Turner-Smith tied the knot in August 2019 and welcomed Juno the following April. Their relationship came to an end in October 2023, when Turner-Smith filed for divorce after four years of marriage. The split was finalized just last month.

While both actors have been fairly private about their personal lives, this custody dispute is now playing out in public as they work through the logistics of co-parenting. For Jackson, maintaining stability for Juno seems to be his top priority.
