Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich are calling it quits on their marriage – the former Dancing With The Stars judge filed for divorce from the former NHL star on Monday (November 2).

The former couple announced their separation in May, after three years of marriage.

“We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” they said in a joint statement at the time. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”

They quarantined separately at the start of the pandemic – Julianne stayed in Los Angeles, while Brooks stayed at their place in Idaho. However, the two have been sparking reconciliation rumors for months, after they seemed to continue to be very much in each other’s lives following the separation.

In June, Brooks celebrated his birthday with Julianne’s brother, Derek – and he was also present at Julianne’s birthday celebration in July. Then, they were spotted dining at an Italian restaurant in August. And, based on photos on their Instagram Stories, they seem to have spent a weekend together at a lake house in September.

Sources said at the time that the couple was trying to make the marriage work.

“They missed being together and they both realized they’d taken each other for granted,” a source told Entertainment Tonight, adding that they are “both working on being open and respectful of each other.”

Another source told PEOPLE that they were “definitely working on their marriage again,” adding that “a reconciliation is looking more and more likely.”

It’s not exactly clear what went down in the weeks since. So far, Julianne, Brooks and their reps are yet to respond to requests for comment.
