Kanye West and Drake is showing everyone that what the world needs now is peace and love — and they’re leading by example.
The two music bigwigs took to the stage on Thursday night together, proving to the world that yes, people can change, and that includes them.
Kanye and Drake performed together for the Free Larry Hoover benefit concert at the LA Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. The high-profile music event was held to raise money for non-profit prison reform organizations and streamed live on Amazon Prime. Many stars were in attendance, including Kanye’s estranged wife Kim Kardashian West, Kanye and Kim’s eight-year-old daughter North, and Kim’s mother Kris Jenner who was with her boyfriend Corey Gamble.
The duo’s electric performance began with an amazing opening medley performed by Kanye’s Sunday Service Choir. Following the opening number, both Kanye and Drake emerged from the top of the stairs, appearing in a wall of smoke, and walked down towards the center of the stadium together to signify their goodwill and newfound unity.
Drake then walked to the sidelines and Kanye took center stage, performing his biggest hits for about an hour to a roaring audience. Drake came back to join Kanye afterwards, and then both performed “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” Kanye’s 2007 hit track.
Drake and Kanye embraced on stage, after which Kanye departed to give Drake the spotlight. Drake performed a slew of his own hits to a crowd that could not get enough of this epic moment.
The Kanye – Drake joint performance came after the two publicly ended their longstanding feud in November. The road to reconciliation began with Kanye extending an olive branch to Drake early that same month and inviting Drake to join him onstage for the said benefit concert. Kanye stated at the time:
“I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but prove to people – everywhere – how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together.”
