Kanye West is publicly apologizing to wife, Kim Kardashian-West.

The rapper took to social media over the weekend to publicly apologize to his wife for some controversial comments he made during his campaign rally in South Carolina on Sunday (July 19), regarding their eldest child, North.

“I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me,” Ye tweeted on Saturday (July 25). “To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me.”

That same day, TMZ also published photos of Kanye arriving at a hospital in Wyoming, near where his ranch is located. According to the outlet, the rapper was in the Emergency Room for about 10 mins. before returning home – with an ambulance arriving at his ranch soon after.

According to an Us Weekly source, the rapper had been experiencing “a lot of anxiety” recently and went to the hospital to get checked out. Upon arriving, however, he decided to get checked out at home instead, hence the ambulance.

“Kanye has been experiencing a lot of anxiety lately. He has been surrounded by a lot of people and started to feel really overwhelmed,” the source said. “Kanye decided to go to the hospital to get checked out. Upon his arrival, Kanye decided he’d rather be seen at home. He headed back to his home — an ambulance followed. Kanye was treated and his doctor says his vitals are normal. He’s feeling much better.”

It appears the presidential hopeful is now focusing on his mental health and well-being following some controversial comments he made last week.

As a refresher of the KimYe drama, during his presidential campaign rally in South Carolina, Kanye said that there was a time when he and Kim discussed the possibility of not pushing through the pregnancy of their firstborn.

The rapper also went on social media to tweet (and later delete) about personal family issues like calling out his wife, Kim Kardashian, and her mother, Kris Jenner, for allegedly trying to “lock me up with doctors.” He also claimed that he’s been considering a divorce from Kim for more than a year now.

On Wednesday (July 22), Kim posted a statement on Instagram addressing Kanye’s bipolar disorder and asked fans for “compassion and empathy.”

“As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health,” Kim wrote. “But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health.”

She went on to call her husband a “brilliant but complicated man,” and asked fans for compassion and empathy.

“We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most,” she later added. “I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this.”

As of Tuesday (July 21), Kanye is in his ranch in Wyoming – pals including Justin Beiber, Dave Chappelle and Damon Dash, as well as members of his team have been by to visit. Kanye has also reportedly been examined by a doctor and deemed to be in a stable mental state – he’s also continuing to work on his album.

Kim, meanwhile, is currently filming episodes for their reality series Keeping Up With the Kardashians. A source also told ET that Kim made the decision not to include the issue of Kanye’s mental health on the show.

Kim’s family is reportedly taking Kanye’s latest apology as a hopeful sign.

“Kim and the family are happy to see Kanye apologize, but at the end of the day the most important thing for them is Kanye getting the help he needs,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

“Kanye said hurtful things to Kim and the family and in time that will heal, but Kanye’s health is priority,” the source added. “Since Kanye hasn’t been responsive to Kim and her family’s attempt to help him, they are hoping this public olive branch is a start for him in allowing Kim to help.”
