Kanye West has been banned.
It’s been reported that the 44-year-old Donda rapper is no longer allowed to perform at the 2022 Grammys. The news was confirmed by his rep to Variety.
According to his rep, Kanye is now barred from performing at this year’s show because of his “concerning online behavior.”
The rep cited a report that came out late Friday which said that Kanye’s team received a phone call that evening to inform him that he has been “unfortunately” removed from the lineup of performers for the awards ceremony. Kanye is up for five 2022 Grammy awards, and though he was not included in the first list of performers that was announced on Tuesday, he might have been a planned performer.
Friday’s report also noted:
“Our sources say Kanye’s team isn’t surprised by the decision.”
His rep sent Variety a link to the report and simply said:
“This is confirmed.”
Many believe that part of the reason for Kanye being banned from the Grammys is due to his recent social media attack on Trevor Noah. The two got into a nasty public feud, with Kanye calling him a racial slur. Kanye was banned from Instagram soon after that.
Trevor addressed Kanye being barred from performing at the Grammys. He tweeted:
“I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.”
