Kate Beckinsale is opening up about her highly-publicized and much talked about relationship with Pete Davidson – and the intense scrutiny that has come with it.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times published on Wednesday (March 27), the stunning actress spoke about all the attention being focused on her love life these days. Kate, 45, and Pete, 25, both seemingly take it all in stride – but she does admit that sometimes it gets a little, well, much.
“I’d rather not have people hiding outside my house. It’s a little old fashioned to have a woman’s personal life [looked at like that]. It’s a little bit tired.”
Kate also candidly talked about how Pete comes with his “own bag of mischief” – and how it’s all new with her:
“I’ve never been in this position before — never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief. It’s all quite shocking, and something to get used to.
I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem.
But it’s not.”
On Friday last week (March 22), Kate mysteriously wiped her Instagram page clean. Her mysterious move comes at the heels of many comments on social media about her and Pete’s relationship. In her Los Angeles Times interview, which was conducted earlier this month, Kate spoke about finding social media to be a way for fans to get to know her and her personality better:
“If people dislike that persona, I really don’t care. It’s actually accurate. I found it incredibly relieving to go, ‘Oh, this is what my actual sensibility is like.’ And whether people respond positively or negatively to that, that is what it is. And that’s been a largely positive experience.
If it became oppressive or upsetting, I would be very happy to let go of it. But so far, it’s been rather a nice thing. A lot of fun.”
In a recent SNL episode, Pete addressed his high-profile coupling with Kate. Though he never mentioned here by name, he spoke about all the attention their twenty-year age difference has been getting:
“Apparently people have a crazy fascination with our age difference.
It doesn’t really bother us, but then again I’m new to this. So if you have questions about a relationship with a big age difference, just ask Leonardo DiCaprio, Jason Statham, Michael Douglas, Richard Gere, Jeff Goldblum, Scott Disick, Dane Cook, Derek Jeter, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn and whoever the president of France is.
Mel Gibson, Billy Joel, Mick Jagger, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Kelsey Grammer. Larry King, Larry King, Larry King, Rod Stewart and Donald Trump.”
