Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr just had another #modernfamilygoals moment.
As we know, Miranda is Orlando Bloom’s ex-wife – and they share a son together, 10-year-old Flynn. Katy is Orlando’s current fiancé – and she and Orlando recently became parents to a baby girl, Daisy Dove, whom they welcomed in August of last year.
While their situation might be pretty awkward for some, these two women continue to show that it’s entirely possible to have a solid friendship without drama.
The “Daisy” singer recently joined the KORA Organics founder for an Instagram Live chat, where they got candid about their friendship, their families and the joys of motherhood.
Miranda, who’s also mom to two-year-old Hart and one-year-old Myles whom she shares with hubby, Snap Inc. CEO Evan Spiegel, gushed about the kids.
“The kids are my number one love,” Miranda shared during the chat. “It’s just the best thing in the world, being a mom.”
“It’s the best job, and the most fulfilling,” Katy agreed. “I feel like I got the opportunity to climb every single mountain, especially career-wise, and see those views, and a lot of them I’m really grateful for. But there was no feeling like the feeling of when I had my daughter.”
“That was like all the love I was every searching for,” Katy added, noting that welcoming her baby girl gave her a sensation of “wholeness.”
“It’s the heart-opener of all heart-openers,” Miranda concurred.
Katy went on to talk about how the rollercoaster of emotions that come with putting herself and her art out there is so different from the joys of motherhood.
“Sometimes you are beloved, and then sometimes people are like, ‘Nah, I don’t like that. Moving on,'” she said. “But the love from your children is constant and unconditional and isn’t based on what you have, what you don’t have, what career, what product.”
“And so that’s definitely made me feel so full,” she added, “to know that there’s this unwavering, unconditional love. Nothing is being asked of me, just to be a mother. And that comes naturally.”
She also revealed having a baby at this point in her life was totally part of her plan.
“I’m so glad I made the conscious decision to actually try and do that because I didn’t want to miss out on that opportunity… It’s been the best,” Katy said, adding, “But you know that because you’ve got three.”
“Three boys!” Miranda exclaimed. “It’s wild. I still pinch myself. “I feel so lucky to be a mom.”
Miranda and Katy have been showing support for each other throughout the years. When Katy and Orlando welcomed their baby girl, Miranda even ~liked~ Orlando’s post, and hopped on the comments section of Katy’s post to write, “I’m so happy for you guys. Can’t wait to meet her.”
