Katy Perry has given birth to her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom!
UNICEF first announced the exciting news when they congratulated the couple on social media.
“Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and Orlando Bloom’s new bundle of joy,” the organization wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of the new parents holding their baby’s tiny hand.
UNICEF also shared Katy and Orlando’s statement on the arrival of their daughter.
“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the couple shared.
“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever,” they continued.
“As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare,” they said. “In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your ♥️ can bloom with generosity.”
The new parents have since confirmed the news – Orlando shared UNICEF’s post on his Instagram and Katy’s rep also confirmed the news to media outlets.
Their baby girl is Katy’s first child and Orlando’s first daughter – he’s already dad to son Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
He previously opened up about being excited to be a girl dad.
“I’ve been feeling very grateful, obviously, I have a little baby girl on the way,” he gushed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when he guested on the show Tuesday (August 11). “I’m so excited to have a little daddy’s girl. I hope she’s going to love me as much as I love her. That daddy girl thing and that love of your life feeling is right around there.”
Even Flynn is uber excited to meet his baby sister.
“I’ve got a 9-year-old boy. He’s got a couple of other brothers but this is his first sister so he’s excited too,” Orlando shared about Flynn (Miranda has two sons with husband Evan Spiegel). “It’s exciting times.”
Katy has also given fans a sneak peek into their baby girl’s nursery during one of her #SmileSunday livestreams.
“I’m going to show you my baby room, ready? Just a little. Just a little sneak peek,” she said.
The light pink nursery included a look at several adorable baby outfits hanging on the wall – including some pretty unique ones like a onesie covered with Orlando’s face and a dress emblazoned with Eggo waffles – there’s also a changing station with a large mirror, stylish lights, a circular crib with curtains behind it, and a large comfy-looking stuffed chair right by the crib.
