Katy Perry is about to add “astronaut” to her already impressive resume.

The Teenage Dream singer is officially heading to space as part of Blue Origin’s upcoming New Shepard NS-31 mission. The flight, set to launch on Monday, April 14, will lift off from Launch Site One in West Texas.

Perry will be joined by an all-star crew, including aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyễn, journalist Gayle King, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, and philanthropist Lauren Sánchez.

Blue Origin also unveiled the official mission patch, featuring symbols representing each passenger’s journey and contributions:

  • A target star for Aisha Bowe, symbolizing her passion for STEM and inspiring future generations.
  • Scales of justice for Amanda Nguyễn, recognizing her advocacy for civil rights and social change.
  • A shooting star microphone for Gayle King, highlighting her commitment to storytelling and journalism.
  • A firework for Katy Perry, honoring her massive influence on music, pop culture, and philanthropy.
  • A film reel for Kerianne Flynn, representing her love for filmmaking and storytelling.
  • Flynn the Fly, the main character from Lauren Sánchez’s bestselling children’s book The Fly Who Flew to Space, making the trip as a nod to overcoming adversity and inspiring children with learning differences.

Perry’s upcoming space voyage is just the latest adventure for the pop star, who announced last month that she’s stepping away from American Idol to focus on new creative projects. While some speculated that new music was her top priority, it turns out she’s got her sights set on the stars—literally!

The singer has long been fascinated with space. She’s referenced intergalactic themes in her music (remember E.T.?), and in 2010, she even hinted at wanting to take a trip beyond Earth. Now, that dream is becoming a reality.

The NS-31 launch window opens at 8:30 a.m. CDT (13:30 UTC), and the flight will make history as Blue Origin continues its mission to make space travel accessible for civilians.

Bon voyage, Katy!
